Description This thangka of the Medicine Buddha is adorned with vibrant golden tones that were hand-painted. Above the Medicine Buddha, the Pancha Buddhas are depicted in meditation. At the bottom, two pupils stand on either side of the central lotus seat, represented as graceful, elongated figures with golden halos. The main Medicine Buddha, Bhaisajyaguru, sits on a lotus seat, holding an alms bowl and radiating a calm, healing energy. The background is filled with intricate depictions of typical Tibetan flowers, clouds, and landscapes, all drawn with great attention to detail. The Medicine Buddha, a bodhisattva of immense compassion, made twelve vows in the past to awaken bodhicitta in others, provide essential needs, guide them towards knowledge and morality, and alleviate physical suffering. After fulfilling these vows over many lifetimes, he attained total enlightenment and now resides in the realm of Vaidryanirbhsa, accompanied by the bodhisattvas Suyaprabha and Candraprabha. He is depicted sitting in the lotus position, wearing monastic robes, with a golden-coloured body, holding a jar of medical nectar in his left hand and an aruna fruit stem in his right hand.
