Description This thangka represents the First Karmapa Dusum Khyenpa who was born into a Buddhist family in central Tibet to a father and other famous masters of the time. He died before he was thirty years old. He learned from Gampopa, who is the heart son of Milarepa and the best yogi in Tibetan history when he was thirty years old. He reached insight, which taught him about the three types of time (past, present, and future) and the timelessness of enlightened awareness. A prediction letter about his future life was given by the first Karmapa. The founders of the Talung Kagyu lineage, Lama Kadampa Deshek, the Katok Nyingma lineage, and the Drukpa Kagyu lineage, Tsangpa Gyare, were some of his most important students.
